ThE NEW REVOLUTION
Like McQueen, Rodarte and Alexander Wang are both going to work with SHOWstudio to broadcast themselves, while Calvin Klein are using their own website and Facebook page to stream the show.
Of course, designers and magazines have been posting pictures of the collections on the web for a while now, but live streaming is way better!
SHOWstudio is a fashion website dedicated to exploring the ideas and processes behind fashion. They were the first ones to show behind-the-scenes footage of shoots, or get designers to provide patterns and sketches, so their readers could try to make a Gareth Pugh beach ball top for themselves (for example). The baby of super-photographer Nick Knight – the man behind campaigns for Christian Dior, Calvin Klein and Yves Saint Laurent as well as award-winning editorial for W, Vogue, French Vogue, Dazed & Confused and i-D magazines. He set up SHOWstudio in 2000, and since then it’s been behind so many innovations in fashion that we’re sure live-streaming of shows won’t be the last idea they come up with!
And with this week's announcement by the British Fashion Council that all of the London Fashion Week shows will be live-streamed, it looks like we're all FROW-ers now!
